11/11 11:11:11

Lots of Veteran's Day posts today, but the main thing I think of on November 11 is a story I read in Cricket Magazine about 25 years ago. The plot involved a guy trying to harvest the legs of some very clever frogs, and his plan was to get them to all jump at the moment winter hit...which was to be November 11, at 11:11 and 11 seconds exactly. They all ended up heads-down in the ice, and he just used a scythe to get their legs and sell 'em to a restaurant.

Hmm, LJ's clock is off. I hit "post" at the exact moment 11:11:11 (I have one of those watches synched to the atomic clock signal).

That is very disturbing.

I don't remember that story, but man, you just brought back a lot of fond memories about Cricket magazine.....

I don't know why it's stuck with me so strongly, but I could probably reproduce it with about 80% accuracy, down to the numbers involved for frogleg prices and how much the old man wanted for the scythe involved in the story, if I sat down and started typing.

I still have my classic Introducing Everybuggy poster, and also picked up the updated version in the late 90s.
