Clank: Opinions sought

Clank is a new character I'm working up for the relaunch of a superhero MUX I'm on. Last night, I came up with three possible designs. #2 is a clear failure, so I won't bother showing it here. #1 seems to be getting the best reception overall, but there's some strong arguments in favor of #3 (although #3 would need a different name..."Clank" doesn't suit it).



This is your basic tinkertoy steampunk mech, with exposed gears and springs and stuff. Clankenhissen sort of thing.




This is more of a Victorian Gentleman mech, with stovepipe hat and "scoundrel-thrashing stick".


Another option is some hybrid of the two, such as putting #3's hat on #1, or bulking up #3 with more of a #1-like body shape.

Your app has an inconsistency: In the extended detail he's 900# while in the power desc, he's 600# while in Clankform.

Yep. All new setting, they're finishing up the closed beta right now. 2e rules with some stuff from the Ultimate Powers book. Starting characters PL10 with 180 points, to encourage "fleshed out" characters to start with and avoid so much pressure for rapid XP granting.

I wasn't thrilled with 2e. It made it even harder to do a number of sensible things, but at this point I no longer recall what it was.

Yeah, not every change is for the better, but most of them are. Most of the OOC Lounge talk on CCMUX right now involves coming up with CC2 character ideas and thrashing out the system. :) thandrak has de-freezered Jessica to get in on the chargenning, and jarodrussell is checking things out too.

#1 is Clank. #3 is some dude with a different name. I like #3 better, but not with the name Clank.

I just had a brainstorm while on my way back from shopping...#3 is Herr Professor Z or somesuch. A Decoyclank that was TOO smart, and decided it wanted its own life. And to RULE the WORLD! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well, if #3 is evil, then "Doktor Dampf" leaps to mind...which is only "Doctor Steam" in German. But Kaiser Wilhelm was sort of British. 8)

I can imagine #1 fitting in well in a Miyazaki film.
