Still finding surprises....

Tonight was the first time I took my car out at night (yes, I have no life), and only the second time I even turned the headlights on, the other time being during a storm. Found out all sorts of things about the interior and exterior lighting, including (but not limited to):

  • It's really easy to accidentally trigger the highbeams during the day while signalling a turn, and then I don't notice it until I actually turn on the headlights.
  • Most of the internal lights are red, which is good for keeping night vision, but a few are blue, which is not. Including a thoughtful blue light over the ashtray (the ashtray itself lights up red, but if it's closed this helps you find it, I suppose).
  • The dome light goes out gradually...but quickly. To the point I'll need to remember to turn on the headlights before I close the door, unless there's something I can reset. :)
  • The headlights have a REALLY sharply defined area. It's most obvious if there's a slight rise to one side, and then there's an abrupt cutoff between light and dark. I suppose it's for not annoying people in the houses you pass with sidescatter.

Just as long as those "sharply defined areas" remain on the ground. I can't stand cars that have their lights aimed straight ahead or even at a slight upward angle.
