No particular family history of heart disease on my part, although the men do tend to die long before the women. Grandpa Van Domelen died from type 1 diabetes complications, Grandpa DeSio died of the aftereffects of a stroke. And dad's had some microstrokes...so that's the thing I have to worry about, methinks. Actos, at least, isn't as bad as Avandia, as far as I can tell, although they're in the same chemical family.

If I can't get off Actos entirely within the next year, though, I'll be looking at switching to a different drug. The nurses at the Diabetes Center have brought up a few possibilities (Juvenal, IIRC?).
