Personal Archaeology

Well, I've finished the "rough cut" of stuff, going through my old room and the half-attic closet attached to it. I've found all the boxes that contain my belongings, and done a rough sort into "things I probably want" and "things I don't want." I'll go over the first group again tomorrow and make sure of things, and consolidate some things (i.e. put books into the half-empty boxed games, etc). And then probably go through the second group and throw out what needs throwing.

Among the keepers:

  • Most of 1st edition Paranoia
  • A fair amount of AD&D
  • Some Transformers trading cards
  • Some little Robotech model kits (which I know R_M was looking for)
  • My PlasTech Battletech minis
  • A piece of paste jewelry knocked from Claudius's belt by Hamlet in a particularly energetic stabbing scene by Randall Duc Kim, when I saw him at Spring Green in high school
  • The T.U.R.D.I.S. from a Toon "Doctor What?" Gen Con adventure (it's a blue portajohn)
  • My Fortran notes, which would have been SOOOO helpful during Advanced Stat Mech in grad school, but I couldn't remember which box they were in so my parents couldn't find 'em and send 'em to me. Took 89 compiles just to get the damned molecular dynamics program to RUN, and it never did work right. I lose at programming.
  • Various MASK toys (Stiletto, the red car and the green cycle/helicopter..which were both really my brother's, I may call and ask him before absconding with 'em!)
  • My baby book, which I will let my parents keep for a while longer, but eventually do want.
  • Lots and lots of old school assignments, most of which I am pitching. Nostalgia only goes so far. But I did decide to keep my Comp 1 final project about the Reluctant Superhero, which I may eventually type in for your amusement.
  • A really old art pad of mine, which has scattered stuff up through 1987. Nothing worth scanning, though. Probably. Nothing I could mine for Coherent Super Stories, anyway.
  • Torg, Torg, Torg!
  • Enough ADQ (Autoduel Quarterly) to stop a heavy rocket.
  • Old ceramics projects of mine, which are getting pitched.
  • A wooden Star Trek communicator my mom made for me when I was 5, after I stapled myself trying to make one from folded up paper. Yes, my first kitbashing injury was in kindergarten!
  • I may add to this list tomorrow, or just do a new post with any other items of interest I forgot.
