Yeah, it doesn't look like the drawing in my icon. The drawing didn't have to actually transform. :)
I suppose I could have put the gold on the shins, but the forearm speakers looked wrong on the actual toy. )
Let's see if the DDoS lets up long enough for me to post this. :) After some prodding from friends, I went ahead and made a custom figure of Rodeo, using Applejack as a base. The sparkly costume effect I got with a True Navy base coat and a thin layer of turquoise glitter paint (couldn't find a darker blue glitter paint). I "styled" the hair by rubber banding it into place overnight and trimming it down, and protected it from paint with aluminum foil during the painting process.
Sparkly and peril-prone pony behind cut )
I started these earlier in the week, but didn't quite get them done before it was time to head out for Arkansas.

Because it can't all be ponies and Transformers. Sometimes it's kitties and Halo.
Is Badtz Maru part of the Covenant? )
A simple tail-replacement and repaint of a spare $1 McD's Celestia figure. :)

Her reign was short and chaotic, but at least the mail got delivered on time.... )

It's not pinpoint precision, but it's a lot better now than stock. Still having no success with my scratchbuild experiments, I lack the right kind of foam.
I got a spare Energon Tow-Line from a friend years ago, and I set it aside with the intent of someday turning it into the A-Team van. Someday came this week. :) I did initially try it with the dark gray upper of the canonical GMC Vandura, but I decided it looked better black. Unfortunately, some of the area ended up getting lumpy as I corrected stuff, and even buffing back down to the bare plastic didn't fix it. So I arranged the camera angles so as to hide the paint defects...but when the light hits it just right, it looks wrinkled or something. :( The original clear weapon was broken (part of why I got it in trade), but he can carry around Jungle Ironhide's weapons (not shown).

Robot Mode )Battle Platform )Vehicle Mode )
I've done a scratchbuild, a Robot Heroes, a Classics transforming one, an Attacktix and a TF:A keychain chibi, so I suppose a pony is inevitable. I tried using dye first, but it mottled around the glued spots and then soaked through the gray paint (many many layers of it, in fact, and I'll probably need to retouch the gray again later).
Various cute views. )
Robot Heroes Channel approves. )
I got a $1 knockoff pony, dyed it black and then ended up painting almost all of it anyway (the dye didn't take in the rainbow hair, so I combed in some ink).
No comparison picture, my Mach Kick is in a sealed box back in a corner of a closet. )
This time, Transformers Animated's Megatron gets the pony treatment.
Peace through tyranny...and cuteness. )

A $2.80 Pinkie Pie (pre-current-series) My Little Pony "Ponyville" figure modded into a twisted version of Transformers Animated's Bumblebee. :)
The AllSpark is Magic? )
And here's a preview of Megatron, from StarSong!
Chibi Megatron is annoyed by this turn of events. )
Painted some of the gray parts silver where they're supposed to line up with silver paint on the toy, but decided to leave the wheels alone. Mixed up a somewhat more visible purple accent color and added it to more parts.
Annoyingly, the silver paint looks different under my photography lights, the matching is a lot better in person. )
Yes, others have turned one of the Power Rangers RPM wheel-formers into a transforming Scrounge, but here's a pure altmode that's comic-accurate and can be held by Darkmount!
There's no other like it! )
The original Drag Strip turned into an almost-close-enough-to-sue version of the Tyrrell P34 formula racer, and now there's a Hot Wheels version of it. Once I saw one in a light enough color scheme that I would only need a dozen coats of paint and not two dozen, I went for it.

I actually had this idea last year, but only a couple days before Halloween, not enough time to actually do a decent job. So I put together the materials over the next few weeks, then set them aside to work on closer to the next Halloween. Well, it's closer, and I put it all together tonight. Behold, I am (a) Monster Island!
Well, okay, it's a helmet with an island built on it. Not a full costume. )
